Tramway House, Sir Lowry Road Woodstock
Tramway House is located in a prime position on Sir Lowry Road Woodstock - teaming up with HCI (Hosken Consolidated Investments) on this re-development for the new head office of DENTSU MEDIA - One of the largest Advertising and Marketing companies in the world. DENTSU MEDIA are consolidating all their multi-business into one home and will be re-branding to ' one dentsu one home '
Tramway House is situated within an area of great historic significance, with two of our boundary walls remnants of the old Holland Redoubt, which means "largish fort" used as a place for strategic defense or retreat. These redoubts were built by the reluctant French and Dutch allies between the period of 1781 – 1829 in anticipation of a British attack. These redoubts extended from the Castle to Woodstock and then up the slopes of Devils Peak ending at the King's Blockhouse.
We are redeveloping the existing "linear modernist building" by creating a "glass box" linking the two existing buildings acting as a bridge, but also a window through the building to allow unrivaled natural light and offering uninterrupted views of Table Mountain and Table Bay.
The central "glass box" aligns with Trafalgar Park across the road from the building. This protected park was the location for the first-ever vineyards to be planted in the Cape. The park also has further remains of smaller redoubt walls.
The redevelopment was completed in September 2021 with Dentsu Media occupying 4000 sqm large central kitchen and entertainment space with an outside terrace has been designed, to enable the team to entertain and socialise in their own building.
The second floor has been designed as the exclusive area for client interface, with the arrival being more of a journey where you will be greeted by a barrister trained hostess in their custom-designed "coffee shop" reception lounge.
We are delighted to welcome back St Johns Ambulance to their new office/training center and Eye Clinic - 187 Sir Lowry Road has been home to St John's for the past 20 years. Tramway house has been completely refurbished and Swish Property Group is very pleased to have given St Johns a new modern office as well as state-of-the-art training facilities and Eye Care Clinic - on the Ground Floor.
